PDF download Download Article

PayPal makes it easy to view your activity–your purchase history, fees paid, refunds, money sent and received, and other transactions–on the "Activities" tab, whether you're signed in on the mobile app or on a computer. If you're using a computer, you can also download your transaction history and statements to PDF, CSV, and other formats, and check your login activity for unauthorized logins and devices. Read on to learn all the ways to view PayPal activity on your Android, iPhone, iPad, or computer.

Checking PayPal Activity

  • To view your transaction activity in the PayPal app, tap the Activity tab, tap the filter icon (2 sliders), then choose which transactions to display.
  • To view transaction activity in a web browser, click the Activity tab, click the filter icon (2 sliders), then choose which activity to view.
  • To view login activity, sign in to PayPal.com, click the gear, and go to Settings > Security. Find logins in the Auto Logins and Manage Your Logins areas.

    • If you just want to see transactions that are reported to the IRS, select Reported Transactions.[3]
    • To see just the payments you sent or purchases you made, select Money out under "Filter by payment".

  5. This displays only those transactions that meet your filter criteria.
  6. If you want to find a payment sent to or from a particular person or business, you can use the search bar at the top to search by name or email address.[4]

  1. When you're logged in to PayPal, you'll see this tab at the top of the screen. Clicking it displays your transaction activity from the past 90 days.[5]
  2. It's the two sliders to the right of the search bar. Here, you'll be able to specify which transactions to view. You can use the "Date" drop-down menu to select a general date range (e.g., This year, Last month) or select a custom date range using the "Start" and "End" drop-downs.
  3. By default, you'll see all transactions, including purchases you've made, money you've sent, and money you've received. Click the "Transaction type" drop-down menu to select a different option, such as Payments (purchases you've made and money you've sent), Payments received, Refunds, Transfers (to and from your bank account), and Reported Transactions (taxable transactions).
  4. Now you’ll see contact information for the other party involved in the transaction, as well as billing and shipping information (if provided).
  5. On the Activity page, you can use the search bar at the top to find a specific transaction, such as a purchase from a specific company or money you received from a friend. Type a name or email address into the search bar to display only transaction activity that matches your search.

  1. While you can't see your full login history on PayPal, you can see a list of devices on which you're signed in currently. If you're worried someone has access to your PayPal account, you can use this trick to determine whether they are logged in, and log them out remotely.[6]
    • You can only check your PayPal login activity when signed in to PayPal.com on a computer. These steps won't work in the mobile app.
  2. It's at the top-right corner of PayPal.
  3. It's at the top of the page. This displays your PayPal security settings and options.
  4. This displays a list of devices on which your PayPal account logs in automatically, including devices on which your account is logged in right now.
  5. If you see a device you don't recognize, click Turn off beside it to log it out and require a password next time.
    • Click Done when you're finished to go back to the Security menu.
  6. A list of devices and locations will appear.
  7. If you see a device or browser that doesn't look familiar, click Remove to sign it out. The next time you (or someone else) attempts to log in to this PayPal account using that device, they'll be prompted to use a second login step to complete the login process.

  1. Log in to PayPal.com in your web browser. If you use accounting software like QuickBooks that supports PayPal statements, you can view these statements in your web browser on a computer, but not in the mobile app. Before you get started, check your accounting software to find out which types of files it can import.[7]
    • PayPal exports these file types: Comma Delineated (.csv), Tab Delineated (.tsv), Quicken (.qif, US$), QuickBooks (.iif), and PDF.
    • Export to a PDF if you want to save copies of your statements on your computer.
  2. All PayPal activity from the last 90 days will appear.
  3. This option allows you to choose a format to download your activity in, as well as the option to select a date range for your reporting.[8]
    • If you just want to download PDFs of PayPal statements from a particular month or year, select All Transactions instead, then click the download icon next to your preferred statement.
  4. Use the "Transaction type" and "date range" options to choose what to include in your activity report.
  5. Click the "Format" menu, then select the type of file you want to download.
    • For example, if you want to import your PayPal activity into a spreadsheet program like Google Sheets or Excel, select CSV (Comma Separated Values).[9]
  6. PayPal will generate your report, and you'll see a notification when it's ready to download.
    • Depending on how much data you're including in your report, the generation time will vary. Click the Refresh option on the page to see if your report is ready.
    • You'll also receive a notification email from PayPal, as well as a notification in the PayPal mobile app (if installed) when your report is ready to download.
  7. When the report is ready, you'll see it appear under "Activity reports," and there will be a Download link beside it. Click Download to save the activity to your computer.
    • Follow your software’s instructions to import the file you just downloaded. The instructions vary across different programs, but you should see an “Import” option somewhere fairly obvious.
