Facebook Messenger allows you to send and receive SMS text messages in addition to traditional Facebook messages when you're using an Android. If you'd rather use a different app for text messages, you can disable this feature. This wikiHow will teach you how to disable SMS capabilities in Facebook Messenger using your Android.

Disabling SMS on Facebook Messenger

Open Facebook Messenger and tap the profile icon in the top corner. Tap SMS under the Preferences header. Toggle the SMS switch to the OFF position.
