No contact is ideal, but if you just aren't in an environment where you can do that, at least go for limited contact. The more space you have, the better. But if you just can't help but interact with them because you go to school together or you work at the same place, just minimize the amount of time you spend talking to them. -

If you feel your own sense of wellbeing improving and you're starting to feel a sense of closure, it's working. If you aren't feeling that right now, it's okay. Just give it time. -

I don't know if it's possible to say something is always going to work when it comes to a process as like recovering from heartbreak, but no contact is certainly one of the more reliable options here. -
QuestionMy ex, who has a new girlfriend, still contacts me and wants to meet; what should I do?
Joanne dohertyCommunity AnswerYou deserve to be treated with respect. If your ex is contacting you while in another relationship, this often indicates a desire for control or that you are being kept as a backup. Prioritize your emotional well-being by setting clear boundaries and considering what you truly want from a relationship. -
QuestionAfter 10 months of trying to reconcile and experiencing mutual hurt, I want to work through our issues, but she doesn't. If I go no contact now, is there a chance she will come back?
Community AnswerIt is impossible to predict if she will return. No contact places the decision entirely on her by removing your attempts to influence her. This period can also offer you clarity on the relationship's overall health and your well-being. -
QuestionHe called me after 3 months to say he is sorry if he ever hurt me. But he didn't say he wanted to be together again. What does this mean?
KiloNovaCommunity AnswerIt likely means he's a good guy. He probably doesn't want to date you again if he cut contact for three months, but he is checking to see that you're doing OK. -
QuestionDoes no contact make him realize that he wants you?
Community AnswerIt's hard to predict. That definitely could happen, but he also might decide he's better off without you. (That might hurt, but it's better to find it out now than later.) -
QuestionMy ex, who previously didn't value me and was on a dating app, is now messaging me after 19 days of no contact, saying he loves me. How should I interpret this situation and decide how to respond?
KiloNovaCommunity AnswerYou could give him a chance, but proceed cautiously. Test his sincerity to determine if his intentions are genuine. Ultimately, the decision of whether to re-engage rests with you.
