This wikiHow guide teaches you how to save a video you've received in a WeChat conversation to your Android's photo gallery. Downloading a video from WeChat is easy as long as it's still available in the chat. And while WeChat does not allow you to download videos from channels, there is a workaround you can use to save videos from WeChat channels, articles, and moments to your phone.

Open a conversation in WeChat.
Tap the video you want to download.
Tap ••• below the video.
Tap Save Video to download it to your phone.

Tap the chat that contains the video you want to download. This will open the conversation in full-screen. You can open a personal or group chat from your chats list.
Find the video you want to save in the conversation, and tap the chat message with the video in it. This will open and play the video in full-screen.^{[1]

If you don't see three horizontal dots below the video, tap the video again to make them appear. When you tap the dots, a menu will expand.^{[2]

Tap Save Video on the menu. This will save the video to your phone or tablet's image and video gallery. You will see a confirmation message on your screen with the exact location where the video file is saved on your device.^{[3]

- Depending on your settings, the location of the saved video may vary, and you may not be able to find this video file in your gallery. Make sure to note the video location indicated in the confirmation message.

Screen record the video. Unfortunately, there's no option in WeChat that allows you to download a video from a channel. There's also no way to use a WeChat video downloader on the web, as you can't generate a link to a video from a channel. If you want to save the video, you'll need to use your phone's screen recorder to record it. This method will also work to download videos from WeChat Moments and articles. Here's how:

  - Open the video you want to download, and pause it if it starts playing.
  - Swipe down twice from the top of the screen to open your quick settings.
  - Tap the screen recording icon (a circle surrounded by a larger dotted circle).
  - Select WeChat and tap Start to start recording.
  - When the video is finished playing, swipe down from the top of the screen and tap the Stop button.

  - Open the video you want to download, and pause it if it starts playing.

  - Tap Screen Recording.
  - Select Media Sounds if prompted.
  - Tap Start Recording.
  - Go back to WeChat and play the video.
