Favorite Piece of Advice

One of my favorite pieces of advice is to expand your definition of sex beyond penetration. When people understand that sex can include anything from fantasizing to touch, kissing, or self-exploration, it reduces pressure and creates more freedom to discover what genuinely feels pleasurable. Seeking out accurate, sex-positive education can also help unlearn shame and replace it with curiosity and agency.

How can you help when your girlfriend is on her period?
Exactly what an individual wants or needs when menstruating is going to vary person-to-person, based on factors like their gender-identity, unique symptom set, personality, and more. With that, the best way to support your partner when they are on their period is ask them how they might want to be supported. While some might feel cared for by having a bath run for them, others might want their partner to run out and get whatever food they are craving.

Other potential acts of kindness someone who is menstruating might enjoy include: warming a heating pad, gifting CBD balm, making tea, bringing them over-the-counter painkillers, and generally offering patience and kindness as they navigate discomfort.
What is LGBTQ inclusive therapy?
LGBTQ+-inclusive therapy—more commonly known as queer-affirmative therapy—is therapy that affirms all sexual orientations, gender identities, and relationship structures. LGBTQ+ inclusive therapists aim to avoid assumptions about clients' gender or sexuality, while also acknowledging the unique ways that homophobia, biphobia, and transphobia can negatively impact the mental well-being of people who do not. Inclusive therapists aim to create a space where clients don’t have to educate, and instead can shed shame, embrace queer joy, and be affirmed in normalcy.
